SamplesThe samples below demonstrate various aspects of the works we create. They include selected pages from many of our award-winning manuals. All samples are in Adobe Acrobat 3.0 format and require the Adobe Acrobat Reader to view them. Consumer Electronics Troubleshooting SampleThis sample includes selected pages from the troubleshooting chapter of a consumer electronics manual. It demonstrates Manual Labour's ability to translate complex diagnostic information into simple questions and answers that consumers can read and use instead of (or at least before) calling a support hotline.
Consumer Electronics Setup SampleThis sample includes selected pages from the connection and setup chapter of a consumer electronics manual. It demonstrates Manual Labour's ability to document complex mechanical tasks to make them easy for the user. The user testing we did on this manual showed that our approach reduced the time needed to complete connections from two hours (using the previous manual) to 45 minutes (using our manual).
Computer Software Conceptual SampleThis sample includes the conceptual overview chapter of a software manual. It demonstrates Manual Labour's ability to document the conceptual and workflow background of a product, including how that product relates to the rest of the user's job. This particular sample is jargon-heavy, due to the audience's needs; the jargon is necessary to establish credibility with this audience.
Computer Hardware SampleThis sample includes selected pages from the introductory chapter for a UNIX laptop. It demonstrates Manual Labour's ability to document a hardware system so that beginning users can get up and running. This manual won an Award of Merit from the Society for Technical Communication in 1998. |
